The class was exceptionally quiet today, which was to say, only a mild din was created. Valentines day was celebrated pretty crazily among students, so classes usually turned to nothing but card-trading, candy-slobbering and the reading of horrible poems. And this particular Valentines day, like all others, was spent alone by [Name], who had no "special other" to cuddle with in the hard-bottomed chairs that the school provided. Nobody to share practical heart-shaped, store-bought candies with. Of course, she didn't let anyone else know that she WANTED that. She'd probably just sit around until she got home and then cry the entire night. No different from last year.

While everyone else was sitting with each-other, exchanging small trinkets and giving away candy, [Name] sat sideways at her desk, reading a book quietly. She held it close to her, looking down with no intention of glancing up at the love confessions and merriment among her classmates. She heard the door open, and the room got just a bit quieter. She glanced up, but everyone had gathered, making it difficult to see. Just as she looked back down at her book, A large combat boot slammed itself on her desk, right next to her shoulder. She jumped, and looked up to see a familiar grinning face.

"Hey there, Baby doll." [Name] grit her teeth in slight annoyance for the pet name, but blushed and waved all the same. Of course, the bad boy of the school, and that wasn't a boy-band stereotype. The only reason Jake wasn't expelled for all the things he's done is probably because his nanna is dating the principal. He's knocked out teachers, broken jars that contained animal organs in biology (not to mention the time he took the skeleton and put it in the fridge in the teacher's lounge), and he's gotten into more fist fights than one could count on their hands and toes. Snake bite piercings, toned but not bulging muscles, tank tops and cargo jeans, he's truly the perfect fit for a rebel of his type.

"Hi, Jake." [Name] put the book down slowly, putting it in her lap and folding her hands. By now, the kids knew well enough to go about their business without much staring, but that didn't mean that they weren't glancing, weren't asking questions. Jake growled and used his foot to pick the book up, balancing it on his toe before dropping it on the floor. When [Name] went to pick it up, Jake took it's place on it's lap, straddling [Name] with an angry "pay-attention-to-me-dammit" expression. [Name] blushed, and only then did he notice the acoustic guitar strapped to his back. Smiling, now that he had her attention, he moved and sat on the desk, pulling the guitar to his front and tuning his G string.

"C'mon, don't be shy! Check this out," Jake said, a bit enthusiastic. [Name] sighed, turning towards him. Just as she was about to protest, he began to play, a melody of carefully coordinated notes flowing through her ears. She almost gasped, until she heard his voice. THEN she gasped. NOBODY should have a voice that beautiful. It was soft, unlike anything she'd expect from a guy who played in a hard rock garage band. It was a, what did they call it? Oh right, ear orgasm.

"Little girl, always looking so down
What's so great about the ground?
Start looking up so I can see your face
A shining star in a dark, cold place

Little girl, you look so alone
You've been that way for as long as I've known
Are you shy, or are you not okay?
Or maybe you just don't roll that way?"

He took this time to stop playing and shrug, smiling a bit and giving the people who were listening a quick second to chuckle. "Hey, you know I gotta ask." Before she could react, he continued.

"I think it's time for you to change your view
Try something else, try something new
Have you ever thought about trying something with me?

Little girl, oh, you're a dazzling sight
Just looking at you keeps me satisfied
Little girl, oh, you're looking fine
Would you please be my Valentine?

Little girl, oh, I just can't name
The things about you that drive me insane
Little girl, oh, you're looking fine
Would you please be my Valentine?

The day I saw you, I knew I was a goner
So, to me, it'd be an amazing honor
If you'd so much as consider being mine.

Just thinking about you makes my vision go hazy
I don't know why but it's makes me go crazy
It's just the sort of thing that I can't define!"

He took a little bit to just play the guitar, show-casing his skills in a sort of solo. He was smiling now, and not that self-satisfied little grin that he always wore, but an actual, genuine smile.

"Little girl, oh, you're a pretty thing
I can't describe all the joy you bring
Little girl, oh, you're looking fine
Would you please be my Valentine?

Little girl, oh, you make me feel whole
You fill the gap in my darkened soul
Little girl, oh, you're looking fine
Would you please be my Valentine?

You're a beautiful girl and you're looking fine,
So would you please be my Valentine?"

When he finished, he took a deep breath, and everyone in the class (even the people he's beaten the ever-living fuck out of) started clapping. Laughter and cheers erupted throughout the classroom, and he even blushed a little, scratching the back of his head and muttering as he slid his guitar onto his back again. "Alright, alright, shut up you guys, come on." Nobody heard him, of course, but he didn't raise his voice. After it all died down, which took a few minutes, he looked down at [Name], a squirming, blushing mess in her seat. "Well?"

She looked at her lap for a second, unable to make any sort of response. Finally, she burst up out of her seat, pulling Jake into a surprise kiss that almost knocked him off the desk, though he managed to steady himself before that could happen. She pulled away, nodding and crying. "Yes, mhm, yes, I'd love to." Jake smiled and pulled her into another, more controlled kiss before pulling away, sliding off the desk and picking her up. Before [Name] could question, he turned towards the crowd and started heading for the door.

"Where are we going, Jake?"

"My place. I wanna show you my room. We can play video games and stuff." The way he spoke, it was obvious he'd never planned on, nor been in a serious relationship before.

"But it's like, 10 in the morning! We're in school!"

Jake chuckled. "Psh-since when did I start caring about that?"
